How do you organize a Fashion show funderaiser?

what are some of the things i may need to make this a success ?How many people should i have in the fashion show to make it big? Should i have children as well as women? How much should i sell the tickets for and how many should be printed? What are some of the extra things to accomodate the show? How many tickets should be given to everyone? The cause of the funderaiser is to help a family from foreclosure.Any ideas would be very helpful.

Thank you

Judging by the reason of the fundraising, i assume the fashion show fundraiser is going to be a low-key one, right? Because the cost of a good Venue, models and rental of microphones, lighting and sound/music equipment as well as creating the boarded "runway", banner for the logo of the clothes company as well as printing of the tickets will set you back a VERY BIG amount. Also, not everyone u give tickets to can be expected to turn up. Every 100 tickets sent, u may only expect a turnout of 30%-50%. (unless it's a big branded fashion show.) Some venues charge 3K just for venue rental only.

I'd suggest that you approach a college and get students to model, or relatives and friend's daughters. Rent the hall of a community centre/art gallery and use their sound equipment and lighting. Instead of having to build a runway, you could get models to model around seated guest tables instead. Also, ask a local clothes store if they are willing to participate. Do get them to provide clothes in your model's sizes. Get the clothes a few days in advance so that they can be STEAM-ironed out. Get the models to wear neutral colored heels. Tickets can be printed at a print shop nearby. The smaller d tickets, the cheaper it is. Get it printed on A3 size sheets and cut the tickets to size yourself to save cost. Also, to hire a makeup artist for the day may cost $250, so get models to do their own makeup but advise them according to the clothes picked out. GOOD LUCK!

you could also sell cake slices or drinks at the same time to earn more from the crowd....since it is quite low cost.

How do I get into fashion merchandising with a degree in marketing?

How do I get a job in fashion merchandising with a degree in marketing?

hi there.

i have the same problem as yours!

my dream job is in fashion merchandising but im working on my management degree.

i'd love to go to school again for fashion management, but i think our degree could still work!

anyways..i think u should start with companies that distribute/own several brands (like GAP, Banana Rep, Old Navy, all under 1 company)

Try to apply for an assistant buyer or something, so u can deal with fashion without having to design one =D

goodluck :)

You and your fashion merchandising!...LOL

Try to get a job with a big clothing company such as; Guess, Levi's, Versace, The Gap, etc.....

I am sure they offer internships. Go for it!!

Good Luck.

go to the fashion institue of technology in new york city i guess.

How can I go about making my own fashion doll molds?

I am interested in making my own 12" fashion doll because the really good ones that are for sale are SO EXPENSIVE. Does anyone know how can I go about making my own fashion doll molds using plastic, rubber or other materials? I am not interested in transforming a doll that is already made, but starting from scratch. Serious replies only. Thanks.

You will have to make an original model. One method is to work with never hardening soft modeling oil clay (plasticine) when you have a version you like, you paint it with many layers of latex molding material (or use expensive RTV silicone molding rubber), back the soft mold with plaster and peel off the rubber from the clay carefully. If you wish, you can keep the keep the model and modify and rework it to make a different version without building the whole thing from scratch (like different head shape, bustier or flatter, etc. but legs, waist, shoulder, arms not changed.)

If you are going to make a figure with movable arms and legs it get more complicated as you will model each of those separately and have to model the front and the back and cast in separate pieces so you can fasten the arms and legs (and head?) with elastic.

Once the mold is made, you then can cast in tough casting wax for your own use, or get involved in clear and opaque casting resins.

For examples of the first part of the process see

I don't do resin casting, so you will have to explore for the second part.

How do fashion designers come out with the same trend for each season?

For these designers to be so fashion forward, they all come out w/the same seasonal trends. I heard that the editor of vogue looks at each designer's collection in advance of fashion shows and decides which look is "in".

Magazine editors and fashion buyers/designers watch the market year round, and watch where the trends are headed. Based on what the magazines pick (and all the buyers/designers also subscribe to each magazine) is what is marketed to the general public. The public (believe it or not) actually pick the trends based on what we buy... and based on what we buy helps determine the trends for the next seasons.

After a trend is determined, notice that the celebrities will start to wear them, they will appear in magazines, and sites like www.thefashionbitch.com, IN Style, etc. will start promoting those trends. When the public sees all the promotion for these items, then they buy it, which helps promote the trend. :)

Major fashion designers start working on their collection for a specific season as much as year in advance. Why ? It's not just about the look, but also about the logistics, such as fabric sourcing, runway shows, and production. The runway shows are an important pivotal moment, however. This is where magazine editors and buyers make decisions about the "must-haves" and the "oh, no" concepts and ideas that come together to make up a new trend.

Once the fashion magazines start promoting a particular concept as a trend worth following, some designers, late to the party, may pick up on it. Take the example of "dark lace" for this Fall season. It started with Prada showing dark lace dresses on the runway months ago. Now other designers are starting to include this in their collections. Some designers are interpreting this "trend" in gothic inspired dresses with dark lace. Others are working "dark lace" into elegant evening gowns or even purses.

How did WW1 influence the fashion of American Women in the 1920s?

I have to write an enormous essay for my school diploma. My question is, (along the lines of) How did WW1 influence the development of flapper fashion, in the 1920s.

Any suggestions would be very helpful, also, if i could be directed to some quality sources (especially newspaper articles, from archives and the like, and reliable websites) that would be fabulous.

Cheers!

Up until WW1, wedding dresses were always black, but after WW1, because of the excess of parachute cloth, wedding dresses were white.

What fashion design game is best for a young child on the Nintendo DS Lite?

My daughter is five and her big brother has DS that she really loves. We are thinking about getting her one for Christmas. She wants a fashion design game and mentioned Imagine Fashion Designer. I want to know if that is appropriate and easy enough for her to do on her own. I would also like some other options for a fashion design game that would be good for her.

My fashion studio is more simple and easy AND fun than imagine Fashion designer, it really was HARD and all these menus for nothing.

It was a horrible game and "my fashion studio" really redeemed the company in question.

So go with "my fashion studio" not imagine fashion designer!

How to get an internship for fashion magazines in Australia?

Im only fifteen but im very interested in pursuing a career in a fashion magazine. Perhaps starting with an internship. Any pointers that you have for me, what kind of subjects i should be doing, or how i could possbily apply for a job when i get older. Also if you have any ideas for good magazines in Australia like Vouge..

in yr 10 i did my work experience week at vogue australia which was fun but i would recommend a magazine like madison as it is more content driven and vogue seemed to lack something, also russh would be amazing to try, two of my friends did their work experience week at magazines one at bazaar and the other at madison, the girl at madison seemed to have had a really good time so that would be good for you to look into so that you can make sure fashion is what you want to do.

the fashion business is extremly bitchy though so be prepared.

In school keep you english up and try doing an extension english for the hsc. also whatever you do, do not bother with textiles as it is completely irrelevant for working at one of these mags unless u want to be a fashion assistant which may as well be furniture. in uni you should look into going to sydney uni and doing a journalism course, the marks for this are really high at about 98 i think

btw i assumed u lived in sydney as most headoffices for the mags are in the sydney cbd

hope this helps :)
